Our Commitment to Privacy

CORE Education and Consulting Solutions, Inc., and its division, CORE K12, (collectively “CORE K12”) is committed to respecting the privacy of individuals. This Privacy Policy applies to all of our customers and users who access our websites, ac.corek12.com, www.coreK12.com and www.coreecs.com (each a “Website” under this Privacy Policy), whether or not you purchase our products and services (“Service”). We are seriously committed to privacy and ask that you assist in our efforts by providing only such information as is reasonably needed in order for us to deliver the Service or information you have requested. The privacy of individual user data for school administrators, teachers, parents, and students is always respected and protected. We will never disclose, sell, or rent personal information that identifies any of our Service users without specific authorization to do so. Only the student, the teacher, the school administration, and the parent(s) have access to this information. In terms of aggregate performance information, CORE K12 retains the right to release such information provided this information is not personally identifiable by district, school or individual students and teachers. CORE K12 will implement reasonable safeguards to assure that it does not share any personal information you have given us without your permission. As each client and Designated User has agreed to maintain the confidentiality of this information, CORE K12 requires visitors to its Website to do the same.

Visitors to the Website

Following applies to information collected or submitted on the Website by visitors to the Website who may or may not be Designated Users (i.e., registered users) of the Website Services. In general, you may visit the Website without telling us who you are or revealing any personally identifiably information about yourself. Whether you are a visitor to our Website, or a Designated User, our servers may collect the domain names and other non-personally identifiable information about you including your IP address, computer settings and most recently visited URLs.

In addition, there are portions of our Websites which may require us to collect personal information from you for a specific purpose, such as when you register as a Designated User of a Service, or when you request that we provide you with certain information. Records of these transactions will be kept for customer service and marketing purposes. The additional information we request will vary depending on whether you are registering as a Designated User, or requesting information. Generally, we will not ask for, and request that you not provide, any information other than what is necessary for us to respond to your request.

Use of Cookies

We also use a software technology called "cookies" to create a personalized web experience. Cookies cannot be used to find your name, e-mail address, or anything that is uniquely identifying about you unless you provide that information. We use cookies for those applications that require us to keep track of information to customize results. Using such cookies, we may maintain logs of Website usage in order to evaluate our visitors' interest level in areas of the Website, which and how many pages they look at, how long they stay on the site, and what web browsers are used. This data is tracked in aggregate form, not at an individual user level, and is not uniquely identifying. This aggregate level data may be shared with third parties and the public. You may set your browser to not accept cookies. If you don't have your browser set to accept cookies, certain areas of our Websites will not function. We do not recommend, in a multi-user environment such as a school computer lab, that you choose to use a cookie to save your username and password so that you do not have to log in to the Website each time you visit.

Third Party Privacy Policies

When you click on links that take you to third-party websites, you will be subject to the third parties' privacy policies. While we support the protection of privacy on the Internet, CORE K12 cannot be responsible for the actions of third parties. We encourage you to read the posted privacy statement whenever interacting with any website you visit.

Designated Users of CORE K12 Services

Access to CORE K12 on-line services requires registration as a user (“Designated User”). Such registration enables us to personalize your experience and use of the Website. Registration for these Services is required to facilitate customization of your individual results. In addition to providing personalized results, registration is important for sending you specific information related to your Services and for allowing you to access stored information and, in the event that you opt-in, to provide you access to third party sites. When registering on the Website for on-line Services, you will need to provide an email address and password. You need to choose a secret password to keep the personal information you enter on the Website private.

Designated Users’ Access to the CORE K12 Service

We know that privacy is very important to you, especially where your children are concerned. Thus, we commit to using reasonable means to maintain the confidentiality, security and integrity of any personal information collected and verify that:

  • Parents will always have access to all the personal information we have about their children, including their work at the Website;
  • CORE K12 will not share with third parties personal information that identifies any of the students, without parental authorization;
  • We work with all of our clWe work with all of our clients so that they are aware of privacy rules, including those under COPPA, which must be followed in conjunction with the creation of student accounts. Clients are made aware of their obligation to secure parental consent as applicable.


  • Each Designated User has a unique user name, which is the Designated User's screen name. Designated Users are publicly identified at the Website only by their user name. All Designated Users should practice safe computing, and parents, administrators and teachers should advise students not to give out any personal information without parental consent.

    Parents may access their children’s information by logging into the child’s account, or by securing designation from the school/district client as a Designated User, creating their own accounts. In either case, the parent is deemed a Designated User, and subject to the Terms of Services and this Privacy Policy.

    Parents are welcome to review their children's personal information. They can also change or delete their children's optional personal information.

    NOTE: CORE K12 reserves the right to terminate Service for a student if a parent wishes to delete information that is necessary to our operations, such as First Name, Last Name, Grade, and Gender.

    Caution

    Please note, if you do not logout once registered for services that require registration, your personal information could be viewed by other users with access to your computer.

    Miscellaneous

    Notification of Changes

    If we make any material changes in our privacy practices, we will post a prominent notice on our websites notifying users of the change. In some cases where we post a notice we will also email users, who have opted to receive communications from us, notifying them of the changes in our privacy practices.

    In any case, if we are going to use your personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, we will notify you. You will have a choice as to whether or not we use your information in this different manner. However, if you have opted out of all communication with CORE K12, or deleted/deactivated your account, then you will not be contacted, nor will your personal information be used in this new manner.

    Though we make every effort to preserve your privacy, we cannot guarantee your privacy. Further, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law where we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on us or a law enforcement request.
